Thinking Rabbit
Exhibition & Auction

In 2021, The Thinking Fund hosted its first-ever Thinking Rabbit Exhibition and Auction, showcasing a unique collection of artworks donated by South African artists, based in Kommetjie, Cape Town (Open Studios Kommetjie).
Each artist transformed a blank rabbit-shaped canvas into a creative expression of thought, imagination, and purpose.
The exhibition served as a celebration of both art and cognitive empowerment, blending creativity with social impact.
All artworks were auctioned online through the Candice Berman Fine Art Gallery, generating over R250,000 in support.
The proceeds funded bursaries for two young adults to attend the Academy of Digital Arts in Cape Town.

Thinking Owl
Exhibition & Auction

In 2022, The Thinking Fund launched its second major initiative- the Owl Exhibition and Auction - building on the success of the previous year’s Thinking Rabbit project.
South African artists, in collaboration with SPH Fine Art Fairs Cape Town, with were invited to create original works on owl-shaped canvases, symbolising wisdom, insight, and transformation.
The collection showcased a powerful fusion of creativity and purpose, with each piece contributing to the Fund’s mission of unlocking young minds.
Once again, the works were auctioned through the Candice Berman Fine Art Gallery, drawing strong support from collectors and donors.
Proceeds continued to fund bursaries and expand access to thinking skills training for under-resourced youth.

Bursary Winners

Among our most memorable events were two unforgettable Live Art Auctions, where emerging and established artists generously donated their work to raise funds for our bursary programme.
The energy in the room was electric, the bidding fierce, and the results inspiring: enough was raised to fund three full bursaries at the Academy of Digital Arts - one of South Africa’s leading private design institutions.
